Approval requests are for requesting approval from another person. They can be made from either a channel or directly within the bot depending on the audience.

Channel Requests

Requests originating from within a channel will display the outcome back into the channel meaning all members can see. This can be used for when you want visibility of outcomes across the team.

  1. Type /approvals within a channel and press send

  2. Fill in the details of your request and press submit

  3. The approvers will be sent the request to review in Slack

  4. Once the approvers have completed their review the outcome will be posted to the channel.

To view requests awaiting review for a channel use the /approvals-report command.

Direct Requests

Direct requests should be used when you only want the approvers to see the outcome of the request.

  1. Open @Approvals within Slack via the side bar or search.

  2. On the home tab select Approval

  3. Fill in the details of your request and press submit

  4. The approvers will be sent the request to review in Slack

  5. Once the approvers have completed their review the outcome will be visible to you within @Approvals

File Attachments

For requests with File Attachments enabled you can send files to the approver for viewing.

  1. Click Attachments - this will open the attachment page in your browser.

  2. Click the upload box or drag & drop your files to begin upload

  3. Once upload is complete click Save Attachment

  4. You can now return to slack and complete your request
